A fire broke out at a nursing home in Boyle Heights on Tuesday, prompting the evacuation of all residents as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. The incident occurred at around 3 p.m.
at the facility located on the 200 block of South Boyle Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Crews arrived to find smoke billowing from the building and immediately initiated a full evacuation, moving residents to a nearby staging area.
No injuries were reported, and the fire was brought under control within an hour. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials said it appears to have started in a storage room.
Nursing home staff assisted firefighters in ensuring all residents were safely evacuated, including those with mobility issues. The American Red Cross was called in to provide temporary shelter and assistance for the displaced residents.
The facility is expected to remain closed until it is deemed safe for reoccupancy.
