Actor Corey Feldman, best known for his roles in the films "Stand By Me" and "The Goonies," was hospitalized on Monday after experiencing a medical emergency aboard a flight from Chicago to Los Angeles. Paramedics met the 54-year-old actor at the gate upon arrival at Los Angeles International Airport and immediately transported him to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Feldman’s publicist confirmed to USA Today that the actor is “resting” while awaiting MRI results, but declined to provide further details about his condition. According to TMZ, Feldman reported feeling unwell shortly before the plane landed and was seen by a doctor on board.
Sources told the outlet that his medical team suspects the episode could be linked to pancreatitis or gallstones, though additional testing is required to confirm the diagnosis.
Pancreatitis, as defined by the Mayo Clinic, is inflammation of the pancreas, while gallstones form when bile—or hardened deposits of digestive fluid—accumulates in the gallbladder, often causing sudden and intense pain.
Feldman had been in Chicago for the “Stand By Me” 40th anniversary tour, performing alongside co-stars Jerry O’Connell and Wil Wheaton at The Chicago Theatre. He posted on social media, “THE BOYS R BACK IN TOWN!” The tour honors the iconic 1986 film, which also starred River Phoenix, who died of a drug overdose in 1993 at age 23.
