The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is urgently seeking the public’s help to locate two at-risk children allegedly abducted by their father in Lancaster. The twins, Solomon and Marozhina Sukonick, both 9, disappeared Thursday night, July 23, prompting a region-wide search.
According to the LASD Lancaster Station, the children were last seen at approximately 8 p.m. Thursday near the 1000 block of West Avenue J-8 in Lancaster, about 70 miles north of Los Angeles. Their father, David Sukonick, 71, picked them up and has not been heard from since.
Both children are 4 feet 4 inches tall, weigh 90 pounds, and have brown hair and brown eyes. Marozhina was last seen wearing pink shorts and a white shirt; Solomon wore blue shorts and an unknown colored shirt. David Sukonick is 5 feet 7 inches, 135 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing black pants, a white shirt, and a blue bandana.
The suspect is driving a 2011 Black Lincoln Town Car with California license plate #SOLOYST. Authorities are concerned for the children’s well-being and ask anyone who spots the vehicle or the individuals to contact law enforcement immediately.
Lancaster, located in the Antelope Valley of Los Angeles County, is a community accustomed to close cooperation with the LASD. The Lancaster Station has activated all available resources, including patrol units and detectives, to locate the children quickly.
Parental abductions, while less common than stranger abductions, are often high-risk cases involving custodial disputes. In California, such cases trigger immediate multi-agency responses due to the potential for escalation. The Sukonick children are considered “at-risk” due to their age and the circumstances of the disappearance.
On Saturday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department issued an update, confirming that the search for Solomon and Marozhina remains active and urging the public to remain vigilant for any signs of the children or their father's vehicle.
According to the New York Post, David Sukonick shared a photo of the children on Facebook on July 13. One commenter questioned whether the children were OK, writing that they looked "miserable." Another commenter wrote, "Praying these children are found safe!"
David Sukonick is linked to a dance floor company called Bolo Productions. On the company's website, a statement signed by Sukonick reads, "I design and build the floor so that I can maintain utmost quality control."
Further details from the father's social media reveal that he celebrated Marozhina's birthday on July 14, posting "Nine years old today" alongside a photo of his daughter drawing. He also frequently posted about his daughter's artwork and a fireworks watch with both children, writing "Fireworks watch on the trunk of the car!" Additionally, he wished his son a happy birthday on September 22. David Sukonick's Facebook profile indicates he studied at the Antelope Valley Union High School District. He is described as an accomplished pianist and violinist, and a former professional ballet dancer for 20 years, as well as a dance videographer.
