A tragic incident in Claremont has left a community in shock after a baby girl died following an assault at a home in the 1400 block of Lynoak Drive. Police responded to a medical emergency around 11:35 a.m. Monday and quickly determined the infant had been thrown to the floor by a juvenile.
Officers arrived at the scene near Foothill Boulevard after receiving a call about a medical emergency. Upon investigation, they found that an infant had been thrown to the floor by a juvenile at the residence. The Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the baby to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later transferred to Children's Hospital of Orange County, where she died.
The suspect, a male juvenile, was taken into custody at the scene and booked at the Claremont Police Department Jail. He is now being held at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall on suspicion of murder.
