Delaware State Police have arrested a 23-year-old dance instructor accused of sexually abusing two teenage students and exchanging sexually explicit messages with them. The investigation remains active as detectives look for more potential victims.
Authorities identified the suspect as Emily Pryor Albino of Seaford, Delaware. She was charged with four counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust and sexual solicitation of a child using a computer, cellphone or other electronic device. All are felony offenses.
The alleged abuse took place at X-Treme Dance Studio in Laurel, where Albino worked as an instructor. According to state police, the investigation began earlier this week after detectives received information about the abuse involving two teenagers who attended the studio. Investigators determined that Albino also exchanged sexually explicit electronic messages with the teens.
In a news release, state police said: "Detectives have reason to believe there are additional unidentified victims." Evidence gathered during the investigation led to that conclusion. Authorities are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have been victimized but has not yet come forward.
Albino was arraigned and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction after bail was set at $110,000 cash. Investigators urge anyone with information about the case or contact with Albino to contact the Delaware State Police.
While this case occurred in Delaware, California has strong laws protecting minors from sexual abuse by authority figures, including teachers, coaches, and instructors. California requires background checks for school employees and many youth program staff.
