A man convicted of child molestation in El Dorado County, who had been on the run since missing his sentencing hearing last year, was arrested in Arizona on Friday, authorities announced. Carl Cacconie, 42, was found in Scottsdale, Arizona, and will be extradited back to California to face sentencing.
Cacconie was convicted in July 2025 on six counts of lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14. He was scheduled to be sentenced in late August 2025, but a request to remand him into custody before sentencing was denied by the court.
He remained free on $1 million bail, having surrendered his passport and wearing a GPS monitoring device.
On August 17, 2025, the monitoring device stopped transmitting, and Cacconie was last seen in San Francisco a few days later. On the day of his scheduled sentencing, his family reported him missing, stating he had left his phone and wallet behind.
A federal arrest warrant for unlawful flight to avoid confinement was issued on May 14, 2026.
Cacconie was located Friday morning in Scottsdale, where he made his first court appearance. He is expected to be extradited to El Dorado County to finally face sentencing for his crimes.
The El Dorado County District Attorney's Office and the FBI jointly announced the arrest.
