A 45-year-old Clovis woman has been arrested on multiple felony charges after a hit-and-run collision that left a pedestrian critically injured late Thursday night. The Clovis Police Department reported that officers responded to the intersection of Jefferson and Brookhaven, near Barstow and Clovis, just after 10:00 p.m.
on June 11, 2026, following reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision.
Upon arrival, the first officer on scene found an adult male lying in the roadway and immediately began life-saving measures. The officer instructed the adult female driver of a Toyota Camry to remain at the scene.
However, during the rescue efforts, the driver fled in her vehicle. Responding officers quickly located and stopped the car a short distance away, taking the driver into custody without further incident.
The injured pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition as of Friday morning. The Clovis Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) responded to investigate the crash.
The driver has been identified as Francis Portillo, 45, of Clovis. She was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges including felony DUI, felony hit and run, evading officers, and possession of a controlled substance.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Clovis Police Department.
