San Mateo County Authorities Seize Over 3,000 Illegal Products in Smoke Shop Crackdown

San Mateo County authorities have seized more than 3,000 illegal products during a coordinated crackdown on smoke shops across the county, officials announced Monday. The operation, conducted over several weeks, targeted businesses selling unlicensed cannabis products, counterfeit goods, and items prohibited for sale to minors.

Among the confiscated items were thousands of vape pens, THC-infused edibles, and synthetic cannabinoids, many of which lacked proper labeling and testing. The crackdown involved multiple agencies, including the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, the District Attorney's Office, and state regulators.

Authorities said the operation was prompted by community complaints and an increase in youth access to illegal substances. No arrests have been made, but investigations are ongoing.

The seized products are estimated to have a street value of over $500,000. Officials warned that many of the products contained dangerous levels of THC and other unregulated chemicals.

The crackdown is part of a broader effort to enforce state and local laws governing the sale of cannabis and related products. Businesses found in violation face fines and potential license revocation.
