The City of Redding has secured a substantial $7.9 million federal grant to advance critical infrastructure at the Stillwater Business Park. This funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration marks a significant step toward expanding industrial capacity and attracting new investment to Shasta County.
The grant specifically targets the extension of Venture Parkway, connecting Parcel 12 to Parcel 16 within the business park. This improvement will open additional parcels for future development, allowing economic partners to market more available land to prospective companies. Officials emphasize that completing this infrastructure is vital for improving the region's economic positioning and creating pathways for new businesses and high-quality jobs.
Stillwater Business Park has demonstrated measurable growth over the past three years, serving as a hub for major commercial operations. The arrival of Amazon's Last Mile Distribution Center in June highlighted the area's appeal, alongside established anchors such as Frito-Lay and Pace Engineering. Rebecca Baer, President and CEO of the Shasta Economic Development Corporation, described the park as reaching an exciting inflection point where long-term planning is translating into real economic momentum.
"With Amazon's recent investment, additional companies advancing projects, and continued interest in the available sites, we are seeing years of planning turn into real economic momentum," said Baer.
The project is expected to go out to bid shortly, with construction slated to commence by summer 2027. While the city notes that timelines for large-scale construction can shift, the commitment signals a robust pipeline for development. Interim City Manager Michael Webb noted that the grant allows the city to leverage funding effectively, reflecting a strong belief in the project as an investment in Redding's economic future.
Webb emphasized the broader benefits of the infrastructure work. "Completing this infrastructure will improve our economic position, create opportunities for new businesses and jobs, and help bring outside investment into our community," he stated.
Owned and operated by the City of Redding, Stillwater Business Park is a master-planned industrial and commercial development designed to expand the local economic base. Over the years, the park has successfully attracted diverse industries, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone for regional commerce and employment generation.
This federal investment positions Stillwater Business Park to attract the next generation of employers and capital. As infrastructure improvements proceed, Redding residents and business leaders can anticipate increased opportunities for job creation and sustained economic vitality throughout Shasta County.
