Free Family Gardening Workshops Begin in Paso Robles This Weekend

Updated: CaliforniaToday San Luis Obispo County

The City of Paso Robles is set to launch a free garden program for families this Saturday, June 8, 2026. The initiative, organized by the Paso Robles Parks and Recreation Department, aims to provide hands-on gardening education and fresh produce to local residents.

The program will take place at the Paso Robles Community Garden, located at 1234 Garden Street, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Participants will learn about planting, soil preparation, and sustainable gardening practices. All materials, including seeds, tools, and soil, will be provided free of charge.

The program is open to all families in the Paso Robles area, with no prior gardening experience required. Organizers hope to foster community engagement and promote healthy eating habits.

"We want to give families the opportunity to grow their own food and connect with nature," said program coordinator Maria Lopez. The event will feature demonstrations, hands-on activities, and take-home resources.

Space is limited, so interested families are encouraged to register in advance by visiting the city's website or calling the Parks and Recreation office. This is the first of a series of monthly garden workshops planned through October.

The program is funded by a grant from the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation.
