Invasive Pest Found on Grape Plants at Bay Area Costco Stores

An invasive pest, the glassy-winged sharpshooter, has been found on grape plants sold at Bay Area Costco stores, including in Santa Cruz. The pest can carry Pierce's disease, which kills grapevines and harms other crops.

- The pest was discovered on plants from a Fresno County nursery. - Customers who purchased grapevines on or after April 21 should contact the county agricultural office.

- Affected plants should be bagged and not moved or disposed of. - The pest is a known threat to California's grape industry and over 250 plant species.
