Firefighters Contain 31-Acre Vegetation Fire in Pittsburg

On Friday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (CONFIRE) successfully contained a 31-acre vegetation fire in the city of Pittsburg. The blaze was first reported at approximately 1:45 p.m.

along John Henry Johnson Parkway, with smoke visible on the hillside. By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had grown to 2 acres, with flames and smoke clearly visible.

Crews faced challenges accessing the fire due to steep slopes and narrow roads. The fire expanded rapidly, reaching 10 acres by 2:15 p.m., prompting an upgrade to a 2-alarm vegetation fire response.

By 2:30 p.m., the fire had grown to 15 acres before crews managed to contain it at 31 acres. No injuries or structural damage were reported.

This incident follows recent vegetation fires in the area, including a 2-alarm fire near the Antioch Marina on May 27, 2026, and a 40-acre fire near Pittsburg on May 21, 2026.
