Head-On Crash on Highway 273 Kills Redding Man, Injures Anderson Driver

A tragic head-on collision on Saturday evening near Anderson claimed the life of a 25-year-old man, according to authorities. The crash occurred on Highway 273 in Shasta County, just south of the Anderson city limits, at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a sedan traveling northbound crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound pickup truck. The driver of the sedan, identified as a 25-year-old man from Redding, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 42-year-old man from Anderson, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the collision, including whether impairment or distracted driving were factors.

The roadway was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene and gather evidence. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the CHP Redding office.
