The Los Angeles County medical examiner's office has released the name of the woman who died after a semi-truck plowed through the center divider of the Foothill (210) Freeway in Irwindale on Saturday morning. The victim has been identified as Christina King, 58, according to the agency's website.
Her city of residence was not listed.
The crash occurred around 9:00 a.m. just south of the Irwindale Avenue on-ramp, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The truck crashed through the concrete barrier from the eastbound lanes into the westbound lanes, striking at least two other vehicles. Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the location at 8:57 a.m.
and pronounced King dead at the scene, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department public information officer.
Paramedics rushed two critically injured people and eight people with minor injuries to a hospital. Six of the eight suffering from minor injuries were children, the county fire department spokesman said.
Twenty-two people injured in the crash refused medical transport, he added.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
