Segundo mandato de Trump: Una mirada detallada a los posibles conflictos de intereses y ganancias financieras personales

Likely, politics, money, ethics

President Donald Trump has leveraged his second term in office to pursue a series of actions that critics say blur the line between public service and personal enrichment. From lawsuits against his own government to lucrative cryptocurrency ventures and high-profile events at his properties, the president has engaged in activities that raise significant ethical questions.

The White House has dismissed these concerns as a "tired narrative" from Democrats and the media, insisting that Trump acts solely in the best interests of the American public.

One of the most striking examples is Trump's attempt to create a nearly $1.8 billion fund to settle a lawsuit he filed against his own government. The fund, which would have been distributed to people who believe they were targeted for political prosecution—including Trump supporters imprisoned for the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack—was met with bipartisan backlash.

After a court temporarily blocked the fund, the Justice Department said it would comply, but the White House is reportedly reconsidering the plan, potentially reviving the lawsuit and the possibility of Trump profiting.

Trump has also filed a $230 million claim against the Justice Department for the FBI's search of his Mar-a-Lago estate and a $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS and Treasury Department over the leak of his tax returns. As part of a deal to resolve these cases, the government agreed to drop pending IRS audits into Trump and his relatives.

Additionally, the Air Force has agreed to purchase interceptor drones from Powerus, a company linked to Trump's family, and the Pentagon loaned $620 million to Vulcan Elements, a startup connected to Donald Trump Jr.

In the financial markets, Trump has made over 3,600 stock trades in the first quarter of 2026 alone, worth more than $100 million. He has also bought over $300 million in bonds while pressing the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates, a move that could increase the value of his holdings.

His family has profited heavily from the $TRUMP meme coin and World Liberty Financial, a crypto firm with a controlling stake by Trump's family. An Abu Dhabi state-backed investment firm pledged $2 billion in the firm's stablecoin to purchase a stake in Binance, further boosting its value.

Trump has also promoted a wide range of licensed products, from Bibles and sneakers to cologne and hats, often showcasing them at the White House. During a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he showed them a merchandise room.

He also sprayed Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa with his "Victory 47" cologne and displayed "Trump 2028" hats on the Resolute Desk.

The president's properties continue to be a major source of income. The Republican National Committee and other groups have spent at least $26 million at Trump properties since 2015.

Trump will host the G20 summit at his Doral golf club in November, with world leaders and staff paying the Trump Organization for attendance. He has claimed that government attendees will be billed "at-cost" and that he will not make money on the event.

Finally, Trump has ordered extensive renovation projects, including a $400 million ballroom built after demolishing the White House's East Wing, for which he initially claimed wealthy donors would pay but later sought $1 billion in federal funding for security upgrades. He also plans a ceremonial arch at an entrance to Washington, D.C., costing at least $15 million in public funds, and a $13.1 million renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, all paid for by taxpayers.
