Sierra National Forest officials have announced the reopening of several popular recreation sites just in time for Father's Day weekend, marking a significant milestone in restoring public access after months of coordinated efforts. The reopened areas include the Kinnikinnick Campground and the Florence Lake Picnic Area, both of which are now fully operational following extensive inspections and final touch-ups.

The Florence Lake facilities, which encompass a picnic and day-use area, boat ramp, and parking lot, were officially cleared for public use on June 17. Additionally, the Mammoth Pool Boat Ramp has been transferred back to the Forest Service after successful rehabilitation work conducted by Southern California Edison (SCE), terminating the previous closure order.

These reopenings are the result of strong partnerships between Sierra National Forest road crews, contractors, and cooperators like SCE, who worked together to complete repairs and ensure a smooth experience for visitors. The announcement comes as part of a broader push to increase access to the forest's recreational opportunities, with officials emphasizing safety and efficiency in the restoration process.
