The Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) has announced the return of the East Shore Express service for the 2026 summer season, offering free daily transit along the scenic east shore of Lake Tahoe. The service will operate from Sunday, June 21 through Saturday, September 12, 2026, following the same successful route established in 2025.
Riders can park at the Tunnel Creek Parking Lot at 1102 Tahoe Boulevard or at the Tahoe East Shore Trailhead before boarding. The free shuttle runs daily from 10:00 AM to approximately 6:30 PM, providing continuous loop service connecting Incline Village to Sand Harbor State Park.
Eastbound service begins at 10:00 AM from the 76 Gas Station at the corner of Northwood Boulevard in Incline Village. Note that Sand Harbor closes to incoming visitors after 3:00 PM, and the last bus from Incline Village departs at 3:00 PM.
Westbound service starts at 10:30 AM from the Sand Harbor Visitor’s Center. Sand Harbor is open daily from 8:00 AM until one hour past sunset.
After 3:30 PM, only westbound stops are available, and the last bus from Sand Harbor departs at 6:00 PM.
“The East Shore Express has become an essential part of how residents and visitors access Sand Harbor during the summer,” said Jim Marino, Executive Director of the Tahoe Transportation District. “The East Shore Express helps reduce traffic congestion, improve safety along the SR 28 corridor, and deliver transportation solutions that enhance the visitor experience while helping protect the natural environment that makes Tahoe so special.”
TTD encourages everyone to use the East Shore Express and other transit options to minimize congestion in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Riders can download the Transit App for real-time bus tracking and trip planning, and the TART Connect App for curb-to-curb rides and easy transfers to the mainline bus system on the North Shore.
