Crews Stop Forward Progress of Vegetation Fire Near Kern County Line

CAL FIRE SLO crews successfully stopped the forward progress of a vegetation fire near the Kern County line on Saturday afternoon, June 7, 2026. The fire, which broke out around 12:30 p.m.

at the county line near Highway 41, had grown to 50 acres by the time crews contained its forward progress just after 1:30 p.m. According to CAL FIRE SLO, the fire had the potential to spread to over 200 acres, but aggressive initial attack efforts prevented further expansion.

The incident remains an ongoing fire response, and authorities are continuing to monitor the area for any hot spots or flare-ups. No structures have been reported threatened, and no injuries have been reported at this time.
