Clovis City Council Votes for 60% Water Rate Increase

The City of Clovis has approved a substantial three-year water rate increase for its residents. The plan includes a 21% increase in 2027, another 21% in 2028, and 18% in 2029, totaling 60%.

City officials attribute the hike to spiking inflation, which has doubled operating costs, and the need to repair aging water infrastructure. The average bi-monthly bill for a single-family home will rise from about $27 to around $40.

While some residents understand the need for infrastructure investment, others are concerned about the financial impact on households. After these initial hikes, rates are expected to increase by 3% annually.
