Black History Museum Coming to Weed's Lincoln Heights

A new Black history museum is planned for Weed's Lincoln Heights neighborhood, one of the oldest Black settlements west of the Mississippi. - The Lincoln Heights Museum and Cultural Center will preserve artifacts and oral histories after the 2022 Mill Fire.

- The project is led by filmmaker Mark Oliver and the Lincoln Heights Historical Collective. - Funding comes from Mill Fire recovery settlements and philanthropic donations.

- A fundraiser dinner is set for May 29 at the Weed Recreation Center. The museum aims to honor the legacy of Black families who migrated to work in the lumber industry in the early 1900s.
