Suspect Apprehended in San Diego Downtown Stabbing Death

Imperial, San Diego, crime, stabbing, death

San Diego police have arrested a suspect following a fatal stabbing near the downtown courthouse early Monday morning. The incident occurred just after midnight on C Street, where officers responding to a report of a stabbing found a man believed to be in his 30s or 40s suffering from a knife wound.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital but died from his injuries.

According to authorities, the stabbing was captured on surveillance video, prompting a search for a suspect described as a man wearing dark clothing last seen walking along C Street near Front Street. A Metropolitan Transit System security guard spotted a man matching the description at the Imperial Avenue Trolley Station, approximately a mile and a half away.

He was taken into custody and identified as 22-year-old Conrad Waldron.

The investigation briefly shut down a small portion of C Street, but operations at the nearby courthouse were not affected. The stabbing is unrelated to another death reported just before 5 a.m.

near 13th and F streets. In that incident, a caller reported a man unresponsive.

Officers attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police later determined the death was self-inflicted.
