2 Children Rescued in LA County After Attempted Kidnapping Leads to Police Chase: Sheriff

Two children were safely recovered from a vehicle following a dramatic police chase that began with an attempted kidnapping in Moreno Valley and ended in South El Monte, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. The incident unfolded Saturday evening around 8 p.m.

when deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 25000 block of Sweetgrass Drive in Moreno Valley. The victim reported that a suspect had attempted to kidnap them and fled the scene in a vehicle.

Deputies quickly located the suspect's car and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield, initiating a pursuit onto westbound State Route 60. During the chase, a sheriff's K-9 unit was deployed to intervene, and the suspect's vehicle was eventually disabled near the intersection of Rosemead Boulevard and Bruin Avenue in South El Monte.

Authorities confirmed that the two children inside the vehicle were recovered unharmed, and no injuries were reported. One person was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, attempted kidnapping, child endangerment, and evading a police officer.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further details are expected to be released by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.
