California condor flies into Oregon in 100+ year first

A two-year-old female California condor, designated B9, has become the first of its species to enter Oregon since 1904. The bird flew 380 miles over four days from Northern California, a milestone for the Yurok Tribe's reintroduction program.

The condor crossed into Oregon on May 31, 2026, after a four-day journey. B9 was released in 2024 as part of the Yurok Tribe's condor restoration efforts.

The last confirmed condor in Oregon was recorded in 1904. This historic flight signals hope for the species' recovery in the Pacific Northwest, where condors were once common.
