Utah Man Arrested in FBI Child Exploitation Case Originating in Hawaii

A Utah man has been arrested on multiple felony charges related to child sexual abuse material following an investigation that began with FBI agents in Hawaii. Daniel Craig Massey, 61, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and faces 10 counts of second-degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to court documents, FBI agents in Honolulu, Hawaii, identified an account allegedly belonging to Massey while conducting an investigation into child sexual abuse material in June 2025. The investigation was later taken over by FBI agents in Salt Lake City in February 2026, who discovered over 40 CyberTip reports flagging the account between March 2020 and May 2024.

Investigators traced the account to a Salt Lake County residence, where the Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force executed a federal search warrant on June 1, 2026. Massey was taken into custody without incident.

During the search, detectives found a cellphone containing a large amount of child sexual abuse material featuring children aged 3 to 14 years old. The account in question was also found to be logged in on the phone.
