Trader Joe's enthusiasts in Orange County have a new way to show their love for the grocery store, thanks to the release of mini striped tote bags that hit shelves on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. The bags, priced at just $2 each, come in pastel shades of green, pink, blue, and brown, and measure 13 inches long, 11 inches tall, and six inches wide.
Made from a heavy-duty blend of cotton and polyester, each bag features a pocket on each side, making them both stylish and practical for shopping trips or quick pickups.
The launch drew large crowds, with lines of customers stretching around the block at the Trader Joe's on Culver Drive in Irvine. Fans began queuing well before the store opened, a common sight when the chain releases new collectible bags.
The mini totes have developed a cult-like following, appealing not only to shoppers but also to the fashion-conscious, as seen in photos by Paul Bersebach of the Orange County Register.
These striped mini canvas totes are the latest in Trader Joe's line of collectibles, following previous seasonal releases like the "Trick-or-Treat Mini Canvas Totes," "Micro Totes," and insulated mini tote bags. A lavender version of the $8.99 reusable insulated bag recently arrived in stores, and in March, Trader Joe's brought back the pastel mini canvas tote and launched a new large canvas bag.
The mini totes first went viral in 2024, inspiring a dedicated fanbase and a third-party resale market on sites such as Coupang, Depop, Karrot, eBay, and Mercari. Despite Trader Joe's having no international locations, the bags are sought after overseas, often at huge markups in the hundreds or thousands of dollars.
The collectible bags have even inspired counterfeit versions online, which Trader Joe's has acknowledged and sued to stop the sale of imitation mini totes.
