Sonora is reviving the All-American Soap Box Derby after decades, starting with an Information Day on June 13, 2026. - The event takes place Saturday from 4-8 pm in Courthouse Park as part of Sonora’s Second Saturday Art Night.
- Youth ages 7–18 can build, race, and compete for a chance to advance to the World Championship in Akron, Ohio in July 2027. - The original derby ran from 1939-41 on Washington Street, and a revival is planned for Stewart Street in 2027.
- Cub Scout Pack 513 will also host a pinewood derby track for friendly competition. This free event offers families a hands-on look at the cars and the program, promoting STEM skills, sportsmanship, and community pride.
