San Luis Obispo County, California – Visit SLO CAL, the official destination marketing and management organization for San Luis Obispo County, has announced a wave of new openings for Summer 2026, featuring more than 30 new hotels, restaurants, wineries, and attractions throughout the region. The full reopening of Highway 1 has restored seamless coastal road-trip travel, reconnecting SLO CAL’s North Coast communities with Monterey County, making it an ideal time to explore the area’s diverse landscapes and emerging experiences.
Among the highlights is the Pacific Point Resort in Pismo Beach, a 170-room oceanfront property set to debut in July 2026. The resort reimagines the former Pismo Lighthouse Suites and Shore Cliff Hotel, offering a luxurious coastal retreat.
In Edna Valley, a new multi-winery tasting room, distillery, and restaurant called Edna SLO is opening this summer, anchored by James Beard Award-nominated Chef Jeremy Fox. This venue promises a unique culinary and wine-tasting experience.
Other notable openings include The Q Inn in Morro Bay, a boutique 10-room hotel housed in a restored 1941 World War II-era Quonset hut; Westerly Shell Beach, a new restaurant and bar serving California coastal cuisine with ocean views; and Swell Sandwich Shop in Pismo Beach, offering cold-cut and build-your-own sandwiches. In Paso Robles, the Cattlemen’s Bar at Paso Robles Inn, led by Chef Charlie Palmer, features a Western-inspired menu and handcrafted cocktails.
The Anderson Paso has been completely reimagined from the former Tooth & Nail property.
Cultural and community additions include the Salty Pages boutique in Cambria, the Mincing Mockingbird gallery, and the Cayucos Art Association and Gallery. The Central Coast Zoo in Atascadero has welcomed three new meerkats named Bumble, Buzz, and Honeycomb, just in time for summer.
Additionally, the Ramona Garden Park in Grover Beach now features an all-abilities inclusive playground.
Upcoming events include the 6th Annual Open Farm Days (June 19-21), offering free admission to over 20 farms and ranches; the Shell Beach Food & Wine festival (August 29); and the Avocado & Margarita Festival (September 12). The region also hosts the Wine for Pines Festival (August 1) and the Farmers & Makers Market with Cherry Bombe (September 25-27).
