The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office has announced the arrival of a new four-legged deputy: Lila, a young canine with a promising career ahead. Lila will begin her narcotics detection training this summer, putting her exceptional sense of smell to work for the community.
According to the sheriff's office, the goal is to eventually cross-train Lila to also assist in locating missing persons, making her a versatile asset to the department. When she is not on duty, Lila enjoys playing with squeaky toys and getting out her zoomies, according to officials.
The sheriff's office shared the news with enthusiasm, highlighting Lila's potential to serve the residents of Siskiyou County effectively. The training program is expected to take several months, after which Lila will be ready to join the field operations team.
