Ventura County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting involving a Simi Valley police officer that occurred Thursday afternoon at Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks. The incident, reported around 12:20 p.m., prompted a multi-agency response and left the hospital on lockdown briefly.
According to Sheriff's Capt. Chris Zapata, deputies were alerted to a shooting involving a Simi Valley officer at the hospital. Simi Valley police Cmdr. Greg Gonzalez confirmed the officer was involved and described the call as a “domestic incident.” A Simi Valley resident was at the hospital with officers at the time, Gonzalez said.
Los Robles spokesperson Megan Merino stated, “All patients, colleagues and visitors are safe, and our hospital is operating as normal.” She added that the facility remains focused on uninterrupted care and referred further questions to law enforcement.
Earlier Thursday morning, Simi Valley police responded to a stabbing between a husband and wife on Clover Street. Authorities have not confirmed whether that incident is connected to the hospital shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
This incident occurred in Ventura County, specifically at Los Robles Medical Center, which serves the Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park communities. Ventura County Supervisor Jeff Gorell posted on X that the public is safe and that the Sheriff’s Office would release a statement. The hospital is a major regional medical facility, and any police action there raises concerns for local residents.
Authorities continue to investigate the officer-involved shooting at Los Robles Hospital. No injuries to the public or hospital staff have been reported. The Simi Valley Police Department and Ventura County Sheriff's Office urge anyone with information to come forward. This is a developing story.
