Sheriff's detectives in Santa Barbara County have arrested a Santa Maria man in connection with the online exploitation of minors, authorities announced Thursday. The arrest follows an investigation into the suspect's alleged activities targeting children through digital platforms.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released pending formal charges, was taken into custody without incident on Wednesday. Detectives from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at the man's residence in Santa Maria, seizing electronic devices and other evidence believed to be linked to the case.

The investigation began after a tip was received by law enforcement regarding suspicious online interactions involving minors. Officials said the suspect used social media and messaging apps to communicate with underage victims, allegedly coercing them into producing explicit content.

The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case to determine appropriate charges, which could include possession and distribution of child pornography, as well as online enticement of a minor. The suspect is currently being held at the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Sheriff's detectives urge parents to monitor their children's online activities and report any suspicious behavior to authorities. This case highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to combat online child exploitation.

Further details are expected to be released at a press conference later this week.
