Firefighters from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department swiftly contained a brush fire that broke out Saturday morning in the Bay Terraces neighborhood, preventing any damage to homes. The blaze was reported around 11:30 a.m.
in the 1600 block of Olamar Way, where crews found a 30-foot-by-30-foot vegetation fire burning in heavy fuels with a medium rate of spread, according to Watch Duty.
Homes on Sherbrooke Street, located above the fire, were immediately threatened, prompting a first-alarm response and the deployment of firefighting helicopters. Despite the proximity to structures, firefighters managed to extinguish the fire within minutes, limiting its size to less than one acre.
No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by authorities.
The quick action by emergency personnel prevented what could have been a more serious incident in the residential area.
