OC Animal Care in Tustin is showcasing a selection of adoptable pets as part of its June adoption promotions, which include waived fees for dogs weighing 25 pounds and above and reduced fees for cats. The county-run shelter, open daily for adoption visits from 11 a.m., invites potential adopters to walk through kennel areas to meet animals like Piper, a 3-year-old German shepherd mix who has been at the shelter for three weeks after arriving as a stray.
Staff notes describe Piper as a strong pet with a big heart, though she has had a challenging time adjusting to shelter life and is improving gradually. She responds best to slow instructions and takes time to warm up to new people.
Piper is available with waived adoption fees under the June promotion. Other dogs include Rabbit, a 10-month-old Siberian husky mix who was returned by a previous adopter and is described as friendly and playful, benefiting from routine and training.
Jelly Bean, a 6-year-old pit bull, is also available with waived fees, though staff have limited details on her personality. For cats, Selma, a 3-year-old domestic shorthair who was confiscated from a previous owner and has been at the shelter for three months, and Shannon, a 2-year-old domestic shorthair who arrived as a stray a month and a half ago, are eligible for reduced adoption fees of $100 as part of the June cat and kitten promotion.
All adoptions can be scheduled by calling the shelter's main line at (714) 935-6848 and mentioning the animal ID number. The shelter is located in Tustin and serves the Orange County area, including Anaheim.
