Man Dead, Woman Injured in Shooting Outside Kaiser Permanente in San Jose

A man is dead and a woman is injured following a shooting Monday morning in the parking lot of a Kaiser Permanente medical complex in San Jose, according to police. The incident occurred at approximately 10:14 a.m.

on Cottle Road, just north of where Beswick Drive turns into Raleigh Road, amid a series of medical offices across from a busy shopping plaza. Both victims were transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries.

The man later died from his wounds, while the woman remains hospitalized. The San Jose Police Department stated that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Police have not confirmed whether the suspected shooter is outstanding or among the injured parties. Staff at the medical offices initially sheltered in place, and appointments were canceled following the shooting.

A Kaiser Permanente spokesperson deferred comment to the San Jose Police Department. Streets surrounding the crime scene were closed or restricted while investigators examined the site.
