Los Angeles Mayor Election: Key Races and Ballot Measures on June 2

Los Angeles voters headed to the polls on Tuesday, June 2, to decide the city's next mayor and weigh in on several other key local races and a countywide sales tax measure. Incumbent Mayor Karen Bass faces a crowded field of challengers, including former reality TV star Spencer Pratt and City Councilmember Nithya Raman.

Polls have shown Bass leading, followed by Pratt and Raman. Pratt, who lost his home in the Palisades Fire, has positioned himself as an outsider, while Raman has criticized the city's political establishment and homelessness programs.

If no candidate receives a majority, the top two will face off in November. Other notable races include the Los Angeles City Council elections, with all odd-numbered districts on the ballot.

In District 9, a competitive open race follows the terming out of longtime Councilmember Curren Price. In District 11, incumbent Traci Park is defending her seat against Faizah Malik.

Voters are also deciding on a temporary half-percent sales tax increase for Los Angeles County, expected to generate $1 billion annually for five years to fund healthcare services. The measure responds to anticipated strain from federal policy changes.

Additionally, two seats on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors are up for election: District 1, an open seat due to Hilda Solis being termed out, and District 3, where incumbent Lindsey Horvath seeks reelection. Polls closed at 8 p.m., with early results expected to trickle in afterward.
