Julian Villeda, a senior at Kaiser High School in Fontana, has been selected to serve as the student board member on the Fontana Unified School District’s Board of Education for the 2026-27 academic year. The district announced the appointment following a competitive selection process that drew finalists from all six of its comprehensive high schools.
Villeda, who maintains a 4.12 grade-point average, has been a Fontana Unified student since he was 4 years old. He is actively involved in Associated Student Body leadership, athletics, student mentorship programs, and various campus clubs at Kaiser High, according to a district news release.
In his new role, Villeda will represent the voices of more than 30,000 students across the district. He said his leadership experiences have enabled him to collaborate closely with both students and staff, honing the communication and problem-solving skills necessary to effectively advocate for his peers.
“I want to reach out to those who feel sidelined, unheard, and silenced,” Villeda stated in the release. “As student board member, I can support more students to personally ensure that everyone finds their place.” He outlined plans to actively listen to students from all grade levels and ensure their ideas and concerns are reflected in the conversations that shape their educational experience.
The selection process included finalists from each of the district’s high schools. The other finalists—Haily Verduzo from A.B.
Miller High School, Brianna Maldonado Chavez from Eric Birch High School, Joseph Aguiluz from Fontana High School, Isabella Mendoza from Jurupa Hills High School, and Manvir Samra from Summit High School—will serve as members of the superintendent’s Student Advisory Council for the 2026-27 school year.
Villeda’s appointment underscores the district’s commitment to incorporating student perspectives into governance decisions. As the student board member, he will participate in board meetings, offer input on policies, and serve as a liaison between the student body and district leadership.
