Hostages Safe After California Bank Standoff, Suspect Dead

A suspect who took several people hostage at a Chase Bank in downtown Bakersfield, California, is dead, and all hostages are safe after an hours-long standoff, police confirmed on Wednesday, June 3. The incident began on Tuesday, June 2, around 1 p.m., when officers responded to a bomb threat at the bank.

Upon arrival, they discovered a man had barricaded himself inside with several community members. The standoff concluded around 4:20 a.m.
