The historic Uhro Saari Swim Stadium, known as The Plunge, in El Segundo reopened on June 6, 2026, after being closed since 2019 for extensive maintenance and upgrades. The 85-year-old facility now features modern amenities and enhanced aquatics programs.
The pool was closed for seven years due to ongoing leaks and aging infrastructure. Renovations included code compliance, ADA upgrades, and new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
The facility is named after legendary coach Uhro Saari, who trained over 30 water polo Olympians. Community members were the first to swim in the renovated pool during the grand opening celebration.
The reopening marks a new chapter for the community, with expanded swim and fitness classes, adaptive programs, and community events planned for all ages.
