Four Charged, Over 1 Ton of Cocaine Seized in Otay Mesa Tunnel Bust

Federal authorities have charged four individuals and seized more than 1 ton of cocaine in connection with a sophisticated cross-border tunnel discovered in Otay Mesa, near the U.S.-Mexico border. The tunnel, which ran from Tijuana, Mexico, to a warehouse in Otay Mesa, was uncovered during a joint operation by U.S.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The four suspects, whose names have not been released pending arraignment, face federal drug trafficking charges.

The seizure, one of the largest in recent years, highlights ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling through underground passages. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are seeking additional suspects.
