A fire broke out Thursday afternoon at the LA Clay Shooting Sports Park in South El Monte, prompting the evacuation of all customers and staff from the facility. A worker who answered the phone shortly after 1 p.m.

at the park, located at 831 Rosemead Blvd., confirmed that workers were evacuating all customers from the property where the fire started. The full extent of the blaze remained unclear as of 1:15 p.m., but a social media report indicated that multiple fire crews were working to contain the fire before it could spread to nearby vegetation.

A short video posted on X showed a massive plume of smoke rising about 9 miles east of a separate fire at a Boyle Heights cold storage facility that has been burning since Wednesday. Fire officials have not released any additional information on the South El Monte incident.

The fire comes amid a heat wave expected to scorch Southern California this week, raising concerns about fire danger in the region. The Los Angeles County Fire Department is leading the response, and no injuries have been reported so far.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
