The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Tuesday morning on eastbound Highway 4 at Balfour Road in Brentwood. The two-vehicle collision was reported at 1:43 a.m., prompting an immediate response from emergency crews.
A SIGALERT was issued at 2:12 a.m. as all lanes were blocked and debris, including branches, shrubs, and coolers, was scattered across the roadway.
Traffic was diverted to Sand Creek Road while crews worked the scene. The involved vehicles were an older BMW sedan and a Ford F-250 pickup truck carrying landscaping equipment.
Towing services were contacted, though some were initially unable to respond. By 5:00 a.m., all lanes were reopened.
The CHP has not released further details about the victims or the cause of the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
