Revolutionary War Cannons Arrive at Savannah History Museum

A Georgia museum has received 17 cannons from the American Revolution, discovered in the Savannah River in 2021. The artifacts will be displayed starting Fourth of July weekend.

- The cannons were found during a dredging project to deepen the Savannah River shipping channel. - They are believed to have been scuttled by British forces in 1779 to block French ships during the siege of Savannah.

- After years of preservation at Texas A&M University, the cannons are now at the Savannah History Museum. The exhibit will highlight Savannah's role in the American Revolution, offering a tangible link to one of the war's bloodiest battles.
