Brush Fire Erupts in San Diego's Sorrento Valley, Threatens Structures

A brush fire broke out Monday morning in San Diego's Sorrento Valley area, prompting a rapid response from fire crews as the blaze spread quickly and threatened at least one structure. The fire was first reported at approximately 9:20 a.m.

in vegetation near the intersection of Vista Sorrento Parkway and Sorrento Valley Boulevard, just east of Interstate 805, according to Watch Duty, a wildfire tracking service. By 9:50 a.m., the fire had burned at least three acres and was described as having a "moderate to dangerous rate of spread." Within 45 minutes, the fire had expanded significantly, charring an estimated 30 to 40 acres by 10:05 a.m.

Aerial support has been requested to assist ground crews in battling the blaze. The fire's proximity to structures has raised concerns, and authorities are monitoring the situation closely.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries have been reported at this time.
