Warren High School in Downey honored Avery Carrillo and Ashton Kumar as Athletes of the Year for 2025-2026. Carrillo set school records in track & field and contributed to volleyball, while Kumar posted a 177-3 league record in tennis and will attend UCLA.
Both athletes were surprised by the honor and credited their coaches and families. Additional awards included Golden Bear Statue, Most Inspirational Athlete, and a memorial scholarship.
- Avery Carrillo set school records in 100m hurdles (15.55) and pole vault (11-4). - Ashton Kumar went undefeated in league play for three years and served as team captain.
- Carrillo will compete at Mt. SAC; Kumar will study at UCLA.
