The University of Maine football team is turning to an internal quarterback competition following the graduation of starter Carter Peevy. Head coach Jordan Stevens expressed confidence in veterans Caden Drezek and Eddie Buehler, along with redshirt freshman Michael McMaugh, opting not to use the transfer portal.
The team has lost several key players, including All-CAA selections, to FBS programs via the portal but has added 11 transfers to fill gaps. Stevens highlighted the quarterbacks' familiarity with the offense and their development as leaders during spring practice.
The Black Bears are building their roster for the fall with a mix of returning experience and new transfers.
