UCSB Professor Emerita Lynn Gamble Receives Lifetime Achievement Award as California Archaeologist

UC Santa Barbara Professor Emerita Lynn Gamble was awarded the David A. Fredrickson Lifetime Achievement Award by the Society for California Archaeology, the highest honor in California archaeology.

The award recognizes her cumulative research and service contributions, particularly her work on Chumash Indian sociopolitical complexity. Gamble initiated the California Indian Heritage Preservation Award in 2000 and received her award alongside Tribal Chair Mona Olivas Tucker.

She earned her Ph.D. at UCSB in 1991 and has served at UCLA, San Diego State University, and UCSB.

The award was presented at the SCA's 60th Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, highlighting her mentorship, collaboration, and public outreach.
