Tusil Fire Burns 1,000 Acres Near Campo, Evacuations Lifted

The Tusil fire ignited Tuesday near Campo, burning 1,000 acres and forcing evacuations. All residents have returned home as firefighters continue to battle the blaze.

- Fire broke out around 1:15 p.m. near Tusil Road on the Campo Reservation.

- Approximately 1,000 acres burned; no homes lost, one outbuilding and a vehicle damaged. - Evacuations lifted after 8 p.m.

Tuesday; evacuation center at Golden Acorn Casino. - Firefighters continue to work on containment; cause under investigation.

Fire officials expect full containment may take several days.
