Truckee approves solid waste rate hike, creates stabilization fund

10 June 2026 15:24

The Truckee Town Council has approved rate increases for solid waste collection and created a stabilization fund to help manage future costs. - Residential rates will increase by 3.92% and commercial rates by 0.75%, effective July 1.

- A new rate stabilization fund will redirect a one-time fee (estimated $574,724) from the General Fund to the Solid Waste Fund. - The change follows a court ruling (Rogers v.

City of Redlands) affecting franchise fees for road repair costs. - Only one protest letter was received during the public hearing process.

The stabilization fund aims to smooth future rate increases and support capital projects.
