Tim Smith Retires After 32-Year Coaching Career, 27 Years at Baker High and Middle Schools

Tim Smith, a 55-year-old Baker City native, retired in May 2026 after 32 years of coaching, 27 at his alma mater, Baker High School and Baker Middle School. - Smith coached varsity baseball for 12 years, ending with a 21-0 win over Ontario.

- He also coached girls varsity basketball for 10 years. - He coached his two sons, Bryson and Spencer, during his career.

- Smith will continue teaching science at Powder Valley High School for three more years. Smith said he values the relationships he built with players and wouldn't trade the experience.
