Inland Mendocino County is now part of California’s 1st Congressional District after redistricting, and three candidates are running in the June 2 special primary to replace the late Rep. Doug LaMalfa.

- State Sen. Mike McGuire (D) prioritizes healthcare access, fire protection, and rural investment.

- Assemblymember James Gallagher (R) focuses on tax cuts, deregulation, and energy production. - Instructor Audrey Denney (D) emphasizes forest health, healthcare, and workers' rights.

The election also includes a general primary for the next two-year term under new district boundaries. If no candidate gets 50% in the special primary, a runoff is set for August 4.
