Stericycle Inc. has agreed to pay over $56 million to resolve criminal and civil investigations into its improper handling of controlled substances between 2015 and 2020.

The company failed to report thefts and significant losses, used unregistered facilities, and had inadequate security. - Stericycle will pay a $19.08 million criminal penalty as part of a one-year deferred prosecution agreement.
